Pentland Biomass Chipping
Pentland Biomass currently owns and operates a large whole tree chipper.
It is a 400hp Musmax tractor mounted machine which is used in our yard at Pentland Biomass a couple of days a week, and spends the rest of its time out on hire with it’s experienced operators. As well as chipping timber for biomass and CHP, it also chips timber for playgrounds, horse arenas and other purposes.
We replace our machines every four to five years to ensure we are always working with relatively new chippers. This also enables us to keep up with the changing demands of the industry.
We undertake many types of jobs, from an hour chipping at a local farm, to longer contracts for commercial projects.
The chipper can handle between 35 and 45 tonnes of logs per hour and is fitted with a PENZ crane for self-loading.
It can take whole trees up to a maximum of 100cm by 60cm and chip size is controlled by a selection of screens. Woodchip from G30 to G100 are all within our normal specifications.
The chipper is hired out by the hour with an operator and we make all efforts to reduce travel charges by pairing customers up with others in the vicinity if we are only required for a couple of hours at a time.
The cost is £200 per hour with travel time billed at £50 per hour.
